The goal of CWA is to be a premier fly fishing club, serving the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, dedicated to promoting fly fishing for women through education, fish outings, and environmental awareness.
Chesapeake Women Anglers (CWA), formerly Chesapeake Outdoor Women, promotes fly fishing for women in a supportive, encouraging, non-competitive environment through education, clinics, fishing trips and special events.
Since 1994, CWA members have been enjoying fishing trips to local and distant destinations, including cold, warm and salt waters. CWA offers its members many opportunities to develop their skills, as well as share their knowledge and expertise with others. CWA welcomes women at all levels of fishing abilities and experience, from beginner to intermediate to expert.
CWA’s yearly calendar is filled with many different activities and outings including monthly Fish, Lunch & Learn sessions, casting clinics, local and destination fishing trips and activities such as fly tying and kayaking.
CWA hosts a booth at several local fly fishing shows in the winter months to spread the word about CWA and raise donations for the Casting for Recovery Mid-Atlantic Program retreats. In September of each year, CWA members, our families, and friends gather for our Fall Fling picnic. Then in December, we enjoy a wonderful Holiday party to end the fishing year.
The biggest demographic shift in fly fishing today is the increase in women fly angling…stop by their booth at the Maryland Fly Fishing Show and get involved!
