This time of year, many fly fishermen find themselves tying flies, flipping through fishing magazines, and scrolling endlessly through social media, dreaming of an early spring. While we can’t speed up the seasons, we can offer a day packed with entertainment, education, and camaraderie among fly-fishing enthusiasts.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 22, 2025, because this year’s Maryland Fly Fishing Show promises to be our best yet! With over 60 vendors showcasing their dedication to the craft of fly fishing, this event is a must-visit for anyone passionate about the sport.

Speaker Series Highlights

Our free Speaker Series will feature renowned experts in the fly-fishing world, each bringing their unique knowledge and experiences to the table:

• Mike Heck
  With over 39 years of fly fishing experience and 29 years as a professional guide and instructor, Mike is a wealth of knowledge. You may have read his articles in Fly Fisherman Magazine, American Angler, and Fish & Fly, or seen him featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Road Trip.” He is also the author of Spring Creek Strategies and a contributor to Keystone Fly Fishing.
• Brian Shumaker
  Owner of Susquehanna River Guides, Brian has over 25 years of experience guiding anglers on the Susquehanna River. Specializing in fly-fishing for smallmouth bass and warm water species, Brian will share his expertise on making the most of this incredible fishery.
• Shawn Holsinger
  With over 30 years of experience, Shawn operates Holsinger’s Guide Service in Western Central Pennsylvania. His presentation will cover trout-rich waters like the Little Juniata River and Yellow Creek, as well as Class A wild trout streams where his passion lies. Shawn will also share highlights from his recent fishing adventure in Africa, giving attendees a glimpse into an entirely different fly-fishing experience.
• Dave Allbaugh
  Dave’s presentation, Basic Equipment and Tactics for Wet Fly Fishing, is a hands-on session covering the essentials—rods, reels, lines, leaders, and flies—with a fully rigged setup ready for action. He will also discuss effective fly presentation techniques for different water types and highlight some of Central and North Central Pennsylvania’s most rewarding streams for wet fly fishing.
• Bill Nolan Bill’s presentation will be on fly fishing the Lehigh River and Upper Delaware River. Bill is the owner and head guide for PA Troutfitters, as well as a guide for Sky Blue Outfitters. A veteran and graduate of Sweetwater Guide School, Bill has many years of fishing the Lehigh and Upper Delaware Rivers. His presentation will provide an in-depth look at how and when to fish these rivers from both a wading and drift boat point of view, as well as talking about tactics and hatches you may see on these two amazing rivers.
